Gede Pangrango 100 - GP100

Running in Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park is both a challenge and a form of perfection, testing mental resilience as much as physical endurance. Located approximately 84 kilometers south of Jakarta, or around a 2.5-hour drive, this legendary landscape known among trail runners as a “playground” offers a complete and uncompromising mountain experience.

The trail carries you through layers of sound and texture: the rustle of fallen leaves, damp forest soil, warm sandy volcanic pebbles, rugged rocky paths, and slippery technical sections. Along the way, runners are accompanied by the sound of cold river streams, the splash of waterfalls, and the unforgettable experience of crossing natural hot water flows. All of this awaits those who take part in the Gede Pangrango Ultra 100 Reborn Edition.

Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park contains dozens of upstream rivers due to its high rainfall, with the rainy season peaking between late December and March. Humidity remains high throughout the year, while nighttime temperatures near the summit range between 5 and 10 degrees Celsius. The tropical forest ecosystem within the park is exceptionally well preserved and remarkably diverse.

Runners will encounter towering Rasamala trees reaching up to 60 meters in height, with mosses, ferns, Nepenthes, and natural orchids thriving beneath their canopy. The park is also home to the iconic Edelweiss, often called the everlasting flower, known for its enduring petals that do not easily fall.

Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park spans two major peaks: Mount Gede at 2,958 meters above sea level and Mount Pangrango at 3,019 meters above sea level. The trails to both summits meet at the saddle area known as Kandang Badak, situated at 2,400 meters above sea level. Just below the peaks lie expansive grassland valleys, including Mandalawangi at approximately 2,980 meters and Suryakencana at 2,700 meters, offering dramatic open landscapes amid the dense forest.
